Training Iraqi Officials on Best Practices for Special Economic Zones

Baghdad, Iraq.

In 2013, Locus undertook two on-site assignments helping the government of Iraq develop its special economic zone (SEZ) program. Our work was part of the OECD-MENA Investment Program on improving the business and investment climate in Iraq through Investment Zones. We contributed to an SEZ practitioner's handbook on setting and implementing policy for SEZs focused on helping resource-rich countries diversify their economies. We also helped train government officials who were tasked with developing the program.

Our work in Iraq builds upon Locus founder Jean-Paul Gauthier's previous experience with the development of an SEZ program for the regional government of Kurdistan.
